The Indianapolis Colts are preparing to go up against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, and it will be a tale of two high-powered offenses going against each other. This game could come down to which defense decides to make a play or two, and there are specific players on each team that must step up for their teams’ defense to have a chance. As far as the Colts are concerned, that player is Greg Toler.

Toler was signed prior to last season to bring playmaking and speed to the Colts’ secondary. He was injured quite a bit last year, and was unable to make the type of impact that the Colts were hoping to get from him. His Week 1 performance against the Broncos wasn’t too bad, but he will need to bring his best against the Eagles’ offensive attack.

Nick Foles has been impressive since taking over the starting quarterback job from Michael Vick last season, and came up with a nice game last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite starting a bit shaky. The Colts’ secondary has been notorious for giving up big plays in recent history, but they have quite a bit of talent that can help change that. If Toler can step up this season and make a few plays, it could make all the difference in the world.

It’s going to be very difficult for the Colts’ cornerbacks to defend against Jeremy Maclin, Zach Ertz, and Riley Cooper. Toler and Vontae Davis will have to step up tomorrow night if the Colts want to come away with a win in their home opener. The Colts’ coaching staff is very confident in Toler’s ability, and they are expecting him to have a breakout season this year.

Don’t be surprised to see the Colts’ defense come up with a few plays and force a turnover or two. Toler is going to be right in the middle of those plays, and will be one of the key players that decides whether the Colts win or lose the game. Hopefully he’s able to come through for Indianapolis, and help slow down the Eagles’ offense.
