There have been quite a few domestic violence cases reported lately involving NFL players, and the league has been receiving a lot of backlash for all of these cases coming up at once. Some player have voiced public displeasure over the way things are being handled, but for the most part they have talked about how the league should be stern with domestic abusers. Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne spoke out on the issues yesterday.

“To be honest, I don’t think anybody has to say anything. Just watch TV. Flip through the channels. You’ll see it. Look what teams are doing to those people who are getting in trouble. You see guys on the exempt list, deactivated. That’s what they’re doing. So, what makes you think that you’re going to be different? I think it’s already understood, if you do something like that, especially right now, you already know what’s going to happen. You better walk away.”

Obviously Wayne has some strong feelings about domestic violence, and his thinking is what more people need to be thinking. He made it very clear that domestic violence was “not allowed in his house” and was very classy about the entire question. The Colts have not been one of the teams who have had players arrested or charged with domestic violence, and they seem to have put together a very smart and classy roster.

It’s always nice to hear these type of comments from veteran players, and these comment are much needed to help sooth the drama that the NFL is going through. There are going to be more cases that come up with the heightened awareness, and it’s good to see teams dealing strictly with their players that are under investigation. That being said, the NFL is far from being over this situation.

Wayne has always been one of the NFL’s classiest and most professional players, and these comments were certainly made at a good time.
