It’s about time that the Indianapolis Colts had a top cornerback duo. Vontae Davis has been good since he came to Indianapolis, but hasn’t had a viable corner across the field to compliment him.

Enter Greg Toler, who is finally proving his worth in Indianapolis.

Due to injuries and other negative situations, Greg Toler hasn’t been able to establish himself as a presence in Indianapolis secondary. However, the corner has been off to a fantastic start opposite Vontae Davis this year. Of all starting corners in the NFL, Davis has allowed the lowest QBR while Toler has allowed the second lowest. Indianapolis’ pass defense isn’t spectacular yet, but it is certainly on its way there.

Davis has been good for a while, but Toler is finally getting his time in the spotlight. He’s recorded two interceptions in three games this year and has made athletic plays to get both. Toler has been able to essentially lock down his side of the field. His speedy frame makes him an ideal corner for undercutting deep routes and he has yet to be beaten deep in the pass game. A few penalty issues have plagued Toler’s season, but he’s doing well in his action so far.

If the Colts want to improve upon their 1-2 record, a dominant defense can certainly help them. If Davis can maintain his dominating play and Toler can continue forcing turnovers for the Colts, this could be a really good passing defense.

Toler may have the Week 4 award for “Most Improved” on the Colts roster. After establishing himself in Arizona, he never really came back to form in Indianapolis.

But this could be Toler’s year.
