Pittsburgh, PA – The Indianapolis Colts were trying to win their sixth game in a row this evening, but that didn’t end up happening. Pittsburgh ended up completely embarrassing them and sending them home with a 5-3 record and a lot of work to do. Both the defense and the offense were unable to play up to the standards that they have come to expect, and it was a nightmare performance all the way around.

There was never really a chance for the Colts from the start, as the Steelers jumped out to a quick start. Andrew Luck struggled early and threw a pick-six in the second quarter that put the Steelers up 21-3 on them. Indianapolis did show some signs of life in the second half, but the Steelers defense was able to come up with a huge safety and scored on the next drive to put the game out of reach once and for all.

Ben Roethlisberger and Luck both put up big numbers in the game, but Roethlisberger had a career day in the win. He threw for 522 yards and six touchdowns, while completing 40 of his 49 passing attempts and not turning the ball over once. Luck on the other hand threw two interceptions, but also threw for three touchdowns and 400 yards.

When the passing game wasn’t working for the Steelers, they were able to hand the ball to Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount and let them go to work. Bell picked up 92 yards on 24 carries and also caught six passes for 56 yards, while Blount gained 21 yards on six carries. Ahmad Bradshaw was the leading rusher for the Colts with just six carries for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Indianapolis was unable to match up with the Steelers’ receivers, and Antonio Brown took advantage of that with 10 catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Veteran tight end Heath Miller also caught seven passes for 112 yards and a touchdown, while rookie receiver Martavis Bryant caught five passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

T.Y. Hilton had another big game for the Colts, catching six passes for 155 yards and a touchdown. Rookie receiver Donte Moncrief finally got a chance to prove his full potential, and caught seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Dwayne Allen caught the third touchdown.

Needless to say, this was a depressing loss for the Colts and there are quite a few question marks. Their defense has to play much more consistent and they need to get their offensive line back on track and protecting Luck.

Now the Colts will look forward to their next game on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants on November 3rd.
