The Colts have been dealing with some injuries to key players that played a large role in Sunday’s dismantling at the hands of the Steelers. However, the Colts are two days in with practice this week and have had several positive injury updates as the week has gone on:

Reggie Wayne: Wayne took Thursday off as a combined precautionary/rest day for his elbow. On Friday, however, Wayne was back on the practice field and looked good to go. Indy Star reporter Stephen Holder reported that Reggie practiced with no limitations and looked good in practice. Having him back against New York should help a passing attack that missed his presence last week.

Vontae Davis: Davis tweaked his knee in Sunday’s matchup against Pittsburgh. He did a great job covering Antonio Brown before being taken out of the game to be evaluated. He’s been fully utilized in practice on Thursday and Friday. Barring setbacks, Vontae shoul be good to go against New York. Having him blanket rookie talent Odell Beckham Jr. should bring some life to a Colts’ pass defense that was just horrendous last week.

D’Qwell Jackson: Jackson was held out of practice on Thursday due to an apparent toe injury. He did, however, participate fully in practice on Friday and should be good to go for Monday.

Arthur Jones: While Art Jones did play against the Steelers, he was largely ineffective against an offensive line that held strong the whole game. Now, Jones has been held out of practice for two straight days to rest up that ankle. It’s unsure whether the sitting is precautionary or whether the injury has been re-aggravated. His status is up in the air for Monday.

Josh McNary: As long as D’Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman are good to go for Monday’s game, the Colts are in no hurry to rush back reserve middle linebacker Josh McNary with the ankle. Look for the Colts to deactivate McNary unless something comes up.

Erik Walden: Walden may be the biggest Colts casualty this week. Walden sustained a hip flexor injury that coach Chuck Pagano has called “week-to-week.” Walden didn’t practice this week and will likely sit in Monday’s game to allow a bye week of recovery. Werner will be the sole lead rusher while Jonathan Newsome and Andy Studebaker will compete for snaps on the other side of the line. Without a dominant edge presence, look for Greg Manusky to dial up more interior lineman blitzes on pass play.
