Indianapolis, IN – The Indiana Pacers were unable to stop the Phoenix Suns offensive prowess, and ended up falling to a 5-8 record by a final score of 106-83. Phoenix simply had more talent on the floor, and they had more depth than the Pacers could match. It was a good game at halftime with the Suns leading just 55-48, but the second half was a nightmare.

It was obvious that Suns’ head coach Jeff Hornacek made it clear to his team that he wanted to get out and run, and they did just that. Needless to say, things got ugly very quickly and the Pacers were put out of the game.

Despite the loss, the Pacers brought a lot of effort and did their best despite playing against a much more talented team. The Pacers also lost both Roy Hibbert and Rodney Stuckey to injuries throughout the game, but neither player is expected to miss too much time. Hibbert sprained his ankle, while Stuckey sprained his wrist.

Stuckey came off of the bench to lead the Pacers in scoring with 14 points on just 3-10 shooting. Solomon Hill scored 13 points on the night for Indiana, while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists. Ian Mahinmi was the Pacers’ only other double digit scorer on the evening, putting up 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds to round out his double-double.

Phoenix was led by former Pacers’ guard Gerald Green, who came into the game and scored 23 points on 8-15 shooting. Isaiah Thomas came off the bench to chip in 16 points, while Markieff Morris scored 13 points on the night. Both Goran Dragic and Anthony Tolliver scored 11 points each to round out the Suns’ double figure scorers.

This was a tough loss for the Pacers, but they were short-handed and were going up against a very good basketball team. The injury to Hibbert hurt them in a big way, but they still fought to the very end. There is absolutely no reason for the team to hang their heads after this game.

Indiana will now look ahead to their next game on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
