Colts Without Seven Players Vs. Jaguars

The Indianapolis Colts are without seven players against the Jacksonville Jaguars this afternoon.

The Indianapolis Colts will face the Jacksonville Jaguars this afternoon in what many view as a trap game, and they’ll be having to play this game without a few different key players. There are even players in total that are on the inactive list this afternoon, and here is a list of them with a few thoughts afterwards.

Greg Toler, CB
Lance Louis, OL
Khaled Holmes, OL
Kelcy Quarles, DL
Gosder Cherilus, OL
Dwayne Allen, TE
Zach Kerr, DL

  • Darius Butler will be stepping in to replace Toler this afternoon. Coby Fleener will fill Allen’s role. Joe Reitz will start in place of Cherilus.
  • Missing Dwayne Allen is going to be big for the Colts, but it gives Fllener a chance to come through and prove his worth.
  • The offensive line should be just fine despite missing Cherilus this afternoon.
  • Zach Kerr is probably sitting this game out more due to the fact that Cory Redding, Arthur Jones, Ricky Jean Francois, Montori Hughes, and Josh Chapman are active rather than having an injury.

All of that being said, the Colts are going to have to use the “next man up” system this afternoon. Butler has to find a way to play better than he has over the past few weeks, as does Josh Gordy. The offensive line will need to keep Andrew Luck upright, and Fleener has to come through along with Jack Doyle at the tight end position.

Indianapolis is still obviously the favored team, and they need to come out looking to make a statement against the Jaguars. The pass rush needs to get to Blake Bortles, and the run defense has to contain Denard Robinson.
