Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne said that he’d likely play in 2015 if he had to decide today.

Reggie Wayne is one of the veteran leaders of the Indianapolis Colts, and he has been a member of the franchise for 14 seasons. There is some doubt about whether or not he will be coming back next season, but he shed some light on his current thought process.

At this point in time, Wayne feels like he would come back to play another season in 2014 if he was forced to make that decision right now.

That is certainly an encouraging sign for Colts fans, and it shows that Wayne still believes he can plat at a high level. Even at 36 years of age, he isn’t losing his love for the game and desire to continue playing. Indianapolis needs Wayne on the team to be a veteran leader and locker room presence, and even though he isn’t a star anymore he can still make plays on the field.

“If I had to answer that question today, I’d say I’ll be back… as long as the Colts would have me.” – Reggie Wayne

Wayne ended up catching 64 passes for 779 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He fell behind T.Y. Hilton, Coby Fleener, and Dwayne Allen as far as the touchdown category is concerned when the Colts got in the red zone, but was still a nice safety blanket for Andrew Luck.

It will be interesting to see what the Colts are able to do in the playoffs, and whether or not they can prove that they are one of the elite teams in the AFC. They haven’t shown the ability to beat good teams that they have played so, which is a major concern.

All of that being said, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Wayne come back for another run next season assuming things don’t change between now and next season.
