Vontae Davis: Colts Used Seahawks Blueprint Against Denver

The Indianapolis Colts knocked off the Denver Broncos 24-13 and Vontae Davis said they used the Seattle Seahawks’ defensive blueprint.

Vontae Davis and the Indianapolis Colts were not favored to head into Denver and come out with a win over the Broncos. That was exactly what happened, however, and they did so by shutting down Peyton Manning and the Broncos’ offense.

The Colts came in with a great game plan, and they used the Seattle Seahawks’ defensive blueprint to slow down the Denver offense. Manning completed just 26 of his 46 passing attempts for 211 yards, a touchdown, and a lost fumble. News has come out that he was playing on a torn right quad, which is another reason for his poor play.

No matter what the deal was with Manning, the Colts defense was able to stop him and get the win.

Davis talked to the media about using the Seattle blueprint and coming away with a huge victory over the Broncos.

“Seattle gave us the blueprint in the Super Bowl,” Davis said. “What we did was similar to what Seattle did, as far as taking their receivers away.”

Safety Mike Adams also talked about the defense wanting to come up big and make a name for themselves, rather than just riding Andrew Luck and the Colts’ offenses success.

“We want some of that glory, too,” Adams said. “Show us some love. We know Luck’s going to do his thing. We know Luck’s gonna ball out. So for a defense, we want our own identity. We want to do our own things.”

Indianapolis definitely saw their defense step up, and that was the biggest reason for the win. Next week on the road against the New England Patriots, the defense is going to have to step up even more against Tom Brady and a very dangerous offense.

That being said, the Colts proved that they can play with the big boys yesterday in Denver, and they deserve to be proud of the win. Chuck Pagano isn’t going to let his team enjoy the win for too long, and they are going to switch their focus to New England immediately.
