New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick gave Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Andrew Luck a big compliment.

The Indianapolis Colts shocked the Denver Broncos on the road this past week, and ended up knocking them out of the playoffs by a final score of 24-13. Bill Belichick has been the New England Patriots’ coach throughout the bitter rivalry that they have had with the Colts, and the latest meeting between the two teams is set to occur this week in the AFC Championship game.

Andrew Luck has taken over the quarterback job for the Colts, but has kept this rivalry very much alive. He is looking to cement himself even more as an elite NFL quarterback with a win over the Patriots to get his team into the Super Bowl.

Belichick gave Luck a very big compliment when talking about preparation for the game, and it shows just how much opposing teams respect Luck’s game.

“It’s like a sixth receiver you have to cover,” Belichick said. “I mean, he’s a lot faster than Roethlisberger, much more a threat to gain more yardage and gain it quicker. He can run, but if extends the play, then he has the ability to create big plays, and we’ve seen him do that multiple times throughout his career already.”

Luck ended up throwing for 4,761 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions this season. Those numbers are extremely impressive, but he’ll need to figure out how to cut down the turnovers in order to take the next step.

It is going to be a very entertaining game between two bitter rivals, and more is added onto it with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Luck is going to have to come through with a big game in order to give his team a chance to win.

New England is obviously concerned about Luck’s skill-set, but they showed earlier this season that they could handle him in a 42-20 win. Expect to see both teams put up a good number of points, and the game to come down to the wire.
