Pacers Drop Fifth-Straight In Loss To Nets

The Indiana Pacers fell to the Brooklyn Nets 123-111 Saturday night, marking the fight-straight loss for the blue and gold.

Things are starting to look bleak for the Pacers as they’ve now dropped their fifth-straight game at their worst possible time to be playing poorly this season.

Not too long ago this team was sitting at 30-34 while playing their best basketball of the year as they were in the hunt for the playoffs.

Now that goal seems further away with Indiana staring in the face of a 30-39 record.

Even worse, the team is currently out of the playoff race at the Eastern Conference’s ninth-seed with the eighth-seeded Boston Celtics one game ahead of the Pacers.

Offense was the story of the game for both the Pacers and the Nets in this match-up, mostly for the Nets. Indiana showed up offensively too but it wasn’t difficult for Brooklyn to one-up the Pacers.

Indiana shot 51% from the floor, and Brooklyn shot 61%.

Indiana shot 34% from three-point range, Brooklyn shot 50%.

Indiana had six players in double-figures, and Brooklyn? Seven.

Hats off to the Nets for playing fantastic basketball this game, especially the next day after a triple-overtime win in Brooklyn against the Milwaukee Bucks. Fatigue didn’t seem to be an issue for this team at all as they knocked down virtually every shot they took.

Brook Lopez lead all scorers with 26 points on 11/14 shooting from the field. For the Pacers, George Hill continued his dominant year of play with 18 points and nine assists.

Brooklyn lead Indiana 88-87 after three-quarters of play and from there they pushed down on the gas and never looked back, outscoring the Pacers 35-24 in the fourth quarter to secure the 123-111 victory.

Things are starting to look hazy for Indiana with roughly three weeks left until the playoffs. If this team wishes to play beyond April 15th, they need to resolve whatever the problem may be.

With the Houston Rockets coming to town Monday, things aren’t looking to get any easier for the Pacers.

They need to figure something out, and they need to do it fast.
