The Indianapolis Colts have changed their ways in training camp. Head Coach Chuck Pagano used to shy away from too much physicality in camp to prevent injuries.

The Indianapolis Colts are more focused this year on toughness and consistency heading in the last week of training camp. For the first time under Pagano, the Colts ran Oklahoma (Okie) drills to start practice, a full contact drill that hearkens back to the fundamentals and toughness ingrained in players since Pop Warner leagues.

This is not a finesse system being taught in Anderson. Full-contact is ratcheting up in practice and the intensity is palpable. It seems the message from owner Jim Irsay and Ryan Grigson is clear the Indianapolis Colts must be tough in short yardage and stop the run.

It is a strategy taken straight out of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. “Cry ‘Havoc!’, and let slip the dogs of war.”

Despite the concern of Injuries from increased physicality, Pagano has heard the call and made the adjustments. Tuesday is an off-day for the Indianapolis Colts which will help the recovery of those sore and banged up. Sunday and Monday’s camp practices had been full of bug hits and exciting plays, most noticeably from the front seven.
