***UPDATE***

Athletic Director Fred Glass stated that engineers are looking over the situation and it may delay tomorrow’s women’s game. The Hoosiers are looking into a new venue for the Iowa match-up, and Banker’s Life Fieldhouse has been listed as one possibility.

Terry Hutchens, who covers IU for Fox Sports and Scout.com tweeted video of the piece falling.

It is extremely fortunate that the piece didn’t fall when people were present as they would have been seriously injured if not killed. The University is taking this issue seriously and all future events will be postponed until the problem can be rectified.

According to Indy Star’s Zach Osterman, the Indiana Hoosiers game against the Iowa Hawkeyes has been postponed this evening due to a piece of metal from the rafters falling into the stands.

Osterman tweeted that IU released a statement stating the metal facing was roughly eight feet long by 14 inches wide and fell into the lower part of Section F. University engineers advised the game should be postponed until they could further determine the cause.

At this time no make up date has been scheduled. We will keep you updated when more information is made available.
