Secondary Concerns

I keep saying this, but the Colts secondary is terrifying.

Vontae Davis had a fantastic pass coverage grade last season. Even LaRon Landry was well above average, although it rarely seemed that way. The problem is that there really isn’t much after those two players.

There is a good chance Landry will miss a few games this season and the Colts have a lot of unknowns at backup safety. The battle between Delano Howell and Mike Adams for the other safety spot will be interesting. Regardless of the outcome, we’ll have either a talented player or experienced player at the position.

Greg Toler is going to be a concern all season. He was out most of 2013 with a hamstring injury and when he returned in the playoffs had his worst game of the season (and reinjured himself). At best, he is an average corner and one who is injury prone as well.

This secondary could gel into a decent unit, but its hard to see how. One injury would be devastating to this unit.
