The Ball State Cardinals are heading into a very interesting season after losing star quarterback Keith Wenning to the NFL this past offseason. They are still expected to have a high powered offense, but it will likely rely on the legs of Jahwan Edwards and Horactio Banks. Both players are more than capable of putting up big numbers each and every week, and both players have different skill sets which allow them to work as a thunder and lightning type of duo.

Banks is coming off of a knee injury from last season, but appears to be back to full health and ready to get back on the field. He is a playmaker that has come up huge in big games throughout his career, and there will be much more on his plate this season than he has faced so far in his collegiate career. Ball State’s offense has always been as pass first type of system, but that will switch this year.

InkOnIndy.com’s own Evan Massey was able to do an exclusive interview with Banks, and we hope that you enjoy!

Q. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview with us. How are you doing?

A. I’m good.

Q. What are your expectations for the upcoming season of Ball State football?

A. I really just expect everybody to come out every day an give it their all on the practice field so that on Saturday’s we can give ourselves  chance to win a ball game.

Q. What have you been working on this offseason in particular?

A. Strength and conditioning.

Q. How has the knee been holding up this offseason?

A. It’s doing very well. I will be participating in practice on Thursday.

Q. With all of the offensive losses that BSU had this past offseason, how does that impact both you and Jahwan Edwards in the ground game?

A. Our program is big on next guy up, so I don’t think it will affect anything at all. We have trust in the guys who are going to fill the spots that we lost guys.

Q. Do you know any NFL players? Are you close with any other D-1 players outside of your BSU teammates?

A. Yes. I know NFL players that have gone to my High School. I know D-1 players all around the world from former teammates and guys I grew up playing against at other schools.

Q. Where do you see yourself in two years?

A. Not sure. I try to take things one day at a time. I live for today and worry about tomorrow when I get there.

Q. What do you enjoy doing in your free time off the field?

A. Play with my dog (Kelly), play 2k with D. Hurley, make videos for snap chat, and eat.

Q. What advice would you give a young running back with D-1 dreams?

A. Listen, Listen, Listen.

We appreciate you taking the time to read this interview, and we hope that you enjoyed it as well. We also suggest that you follow Ball State football this season, and Banks as well as he takes the next step in his career.
