5. The Colts Earn the AFC’s No. 1 Seed and Go to the Super Bowl
I’m not quite bold enough to say they’ll win it, but the current Indianapolis Colts roster, if they stay upright and fully healthy, has every ability to become the team to beat in the AFC.
With the league’s easiest record, it’s no stretch of the mind to say that Indianapolis could take the top seed in the AFC. An early look at the schedule favors the Colts in every matchup other than against the Broncos and Patriots (and potentially a tough game against the Eagles), making Indy, at worst, 13-3. Of course, a few surprises from an NFC East team or close games against the Texans or Titans could throw a wrench in the plans, but then again, there’s every possibility that a win could come against New England or Denver.
With the exceptions of New England and Denver, the Colts are favorites over every other team in the AFC. And we’ve already established with these bold predictions that Indy can take out New England, so what’s to say they couldn’t do it again in the playoffs? The same goes for Denver. Indianapolis has what it takes to ride their high-powered offense into a title game. With the top seed in the conference, opposing teams would have to come to Indianapolis to dethrone the Colts, certainly not an easy task.
Now, I don’t believe that, even in a bold predictions article, the Colts will win the Super Bowl. The NFC is a loaded conference, and the Seahawks, 49ers, Packers and Panthers could all take out Indy.
But a Super Bowl birth in Andrew Luck’s third year at quarterback? Not too shabby.
