2. The Colts Must Put Pressure on Peyton Manning

Unfortunately, the Colts will not have the guy pictured above, as Robert Mathis will begin his four-game suspension this week. That being said, Indianapolis is going to have to figure out how to put pressure on Manning, and it will likely have to be in a creative way. Bjoern Werner has looked good in training camp and in preseason action, but playing against the Broncos on Sunday Night Football is a completely different story.

If the Colts are unable to put pressure on Manning, they are going to be in for a very long day. Manning is too good of a quarterback, and the Colts simply don’t have an incredibly talented secondary. Forcing Manning to make quick decisions is about the only way that the Colts have a chance to slowing him down and keeping him from shredding them apart.

Needless to say, defending against the Broncos’ passing attack is going to be an uphill battle for the Colts’ defense. They have definitely improved since last year, but not having Mathis is going to kill when going against a quarterback like Manning. Hopefully they are able to figure out ways to get pressure on Manning and force at least a turnover or two.
