The Indiana Pacers were reported to have interested in Zoran Dragic about a month ago, and they are now reportedly one of the most interested teams in signing the brother of current NBA star Goran Dragic. Zoran is a very talented guard that brings a very similar set of skills that his brother has, but he is bigger. Indiana could be looking at him as a point guard or shooting guard, but he is a very intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.

Dragic averaged 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game overseas, but has shown improvement each and every year that he has played. Goran is definitely the better all-around player, but with good coaching and hard work, Zoran has a chance to become a very effective NBA player as well. The Pacers have been looking at more foreign options than usual the past couple of years, and have already signed Damjan Rudez this offseason.

If they Pacers do decide to pull the trigger on Dragic, they wouldn’t be able to bring him onto the roster until next season if they buy his current European deal out. Indiana currently has Rodney Stuckey on a one-year deal, and they will have multiple contracts expiring next offseason. Don’t be surprised to continue hearing rumors about the Pacers’ interest in Dragic throughout the course of the season.

Larry Bird is looking at making any and every move that he can possibly make to build the Pacers’ roster. Losing Lance Stephenson was a major step back, and Paul George’s injury pushed Indiana’s championship dreams aside for at least this season. It is expected to be a very long season, and major trades are likely to happen at the deadline if they don’t appear like legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference.

Don’t be surprised to see the Pacers end up edging out the competition for Dragic. They will have plenty of roster space for next season, and they are going to be fielding a competitive team once again with George coming off of his broken leg. Dragic may not end up being a starter in his first season, but then again he might very well surprise some people.
