Earlier today, we wrote a piece about Paul George’s controversial tweet about the Ray Rice situation. George had a very misunderstood thought process regarding the situation, and it didn’t come across the right way at all. Larry Bird and the Indiana Pacers’ organization came out and made a statement today regarding the tweet, and made it clear that they were very unhappy with their young star.

To make a long story short, the Pacers gave George a call and made it clear that those type of comments are not to be made on social media. George wasn’t meaning any disrespect by his original tweet, but his wording was fairly poor. It was fairly obvious that he wasn’t OK with Rice knocking his girlfriend out, but he went on to say some things that simply weren’t smart to say at this point in time.

George is out for the entire 2014-15 NBA season after a scary broken leg during Team USA’s scrimmage game on August 1st, and these types of comments don’t help how people view him off the court.

All of that being said, this is a classic example of a young guy making comments without thinking about what he was saying and how they would be perceived. George does not believe that Rice should have done what he did, and he knows that it was wrong. Next time, he should either make himself clear, or just refrain from posting anything about that type of situation on his social media accounts.
