Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Colts are looking to improve their record to 4-2 on the season, but they have to face the Baltimore Ravens in order to do that. Both teams played hard in the first half, but the Colts were the better team by a slim margin and came away with two Adam Vinatieri field goals to lead Baltimore 6-3 heading into halftime. This has been an obvious defensive battle, but it wouldn’t be too surprising to see some points begin going up on the board in the second half.
Andrew Luck had a rough first half, completing 16 of his 26 passing attempts for 109 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. The Colts simply haven’t been able to get the aerial attack going against the Ravens’ defense. Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw have both had decent games on the ground once again, with seven carries for 28 yards and six carries for 37 yards respectively. Reggie Wayne has led the way in receiving for the Colts with five catches for 45 yards, while T.Y. Hilton caught four passes for 30 yards.
Baltimore didn’t have a big performance from Joe Flacco in the first half either, with just 113 yards to go along with no touchdowns or interceptions. The Ravens were led by Justin Forsett in rushing, who carried the football four times for 32 yards. Forsett also led the way in receiving for the Ravens with two catches for 35 yards.
Needless to say, this hasn’t been an exciting game to watch at all. The Colts are leading the way which is always good, but they need to figure out how to turn this fairly dominant all-around performance into a bigger lead. Luck needs to get going in the second half, and the defense needs to continue playing at the high level that they have been this week.
Expect to see a more exciting second half, with the Colts opening up the playbook a bit more. They are certainly sitting in the drivers seat so far, but they haven’t been able to break away from the Ravens. If you haven’t been watching this game, you might want to tune in and see a very competitive second half.
