The Indiana Hoosiers bowl game hopes & dreams took a turn for the worse, with news that starting quarterback Nate Sudfeld would require surgery,

Sudfeld injured his shoulder last Saturday in a loss to Iowa, and will now miss the rest of the season. Sudfeld was replaced by freshman backup Chris Covington during the game against the Hawkeyes, but the Hoosiers will apparently turn to third string quarterback Zander Diamont.

It’s unknown why IU is turning to Diamont over Covington. The Indy Star reported that Covington’s mom Sheneesha Edwards, said her son would not play.

Zander Diamont and his 6’1, 175 pound frame, will face a tough task on Saturday, welcoming the Michigan State Spartans to Bloomington. The Spartans are ranked 8th in the country, and are arugably the best team in the Big 10 conference (defending Big 10 champion).

As a senior in high school last year, Diamont passed for 3,501 yards and 47 touchdowns. Diamont was a 3 star recruit out of Los Angeles, where he was named Los Angeles City Player of the Year, Westside co-Player of the Year, and Western league co-Player of the Year in 2013.
