It was an offensive showcase in East Rutherford as the Indianapolis Colts (6-3) handily defeated the New York Giants (3-5) in New York 40-24.

The game started slowly with the Colts only finding a field goal on the opening drive with not much else in the first. At the start of the second quarter, Andrew Luck found Coby Fleener for a long catch downfield that was questionably bobbled by Fleener. In order to avoid a challenge, the Colt ran a hurry-up offense and Luck found Fleener for a touchdown throw to put the Colts up 10-0 early. Alternating field goals found the Colts up 16-3 at halftime.

Indianapolis wasted no time in the second half as Andrew Luck found T.Y. Hilton for a long touchdown bomb. A pass that looked to be intercepted in the end zone somehow ended up in Hilton’s hands for a big momentum shifting touchdown. New York came back with their first touchdown of the day with a short run to bring the score to 23-10. Indy continued to attack in the passing game, getting touchdowns to Reggie Wayne and Dwayne Allen to wrap up a stellar quarter for the Colts for a 37-10 lead.

The fourth quarter was uneventful for Indianapolis. After getting an early field goal in the fourth quarter, New York started to turn on the jet. Larry Donnell and Corey Washington both found touchdowns in the passing game to bring the score a little bit closer.

But it was too little, too late for the Giants.

Andrew Luck had another wonderful night, passing 25/46 for 354 yards and four touchdowns along with no turnovers. What normally would be considered a great game for a quarterback was marred by a few questionable decisions in Luck’s game, including an incomplete pass that was a few inches away from either intentional grounding or an interception.

The run game was controlled by Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw with seven carries each. Richardson recorded 33 yards while Bradshaw grabbed 50. Boom Herron also contributed to the run game in garbage time with 10 yards off of eight carries. Luck also had two rushes for five yards.

It was a potent spread offense attack for Indy as several receivers were able to get in on the offensive attack. Coby Fleener had his best game of the season with four catches for 77 yards and a score. T.Y. Hilton grabbed three balls for 71 yards and a touchdown while Reggie Wayne also got a touchdown along with his 70 yards. Dwayne Allen rounded out the Colts’ scoring receivers with 48 yards and a touchdown.

The Colts’ defense had a great first three quarters, limiting Eli Manning to anything major in the passing game and holding the running game to 99 total yards. Jonathan Newsome also forced a strip sack on Eli Manning that was recovered by Sergio Brown, setting up Dwayne Allen’s score. Vontae Davis also stood out for the Colts by only allowed two catches on the whole day, including one that was almost intercepted.

After a tough small road series, the Colts get to enjoy a bye week and a three-game home streak, beginning with the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football.
