The Indianapolis Colts made a slew of roster changes on Tuesday following a few key injuries to Colts players on Sunday’s matchup against the New England Patriots.

Running back Ahmad Bradshaw sustained an ankle injury in Sunday’s game. After tests and an MRI, the Colts have placed Bradshaw on IR, meaning he is done for the season. Also, outside linebacker Victor Butler was waived from the team after not being able to stay healthy and bolster the outside rush.

The Colts did sign two players in the stead of Butler and Bradshaw. Josh Cribbs, ex-Browns star return specialist extraordinaire, officially signed with the team on Tuesday after a good workout with the team earlier last week. The team also signed Weslye Saunders at the tight end position in order to provide depth while Dwayne Allen sits a few weeks with an ankle sprain.

Cribbs may be the most intriguing of the moves. He made a name for himself with his prolific kickoff returns and punt returns with the Browns but has been silent for the last three seasons. He’s toured with the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets before being released and looking for work for the last few years. While Cribbs has ability at running the ball and catching (along with a little bit of quarterbacking), he’ll be utilized on the Colts’ team as the primary kick return man in punts and kickoffs, replacing Griff Whalen and Daniel Herron.

Weslye Saunders was brought in to establish some depth at the tight end position in wake of Allen’s injury. Saunders has history with the Colts, spending the 2012 and 13 seasons with the team either on the active roster or on the practice squad. He’s mainly a blocking tight end and should compliment Coby Fleener nicely while helping spur the running game on a little bit using his blocking ability.
