The Indianapolis Colts do not have any interest in signing former Baltimore Ravens’ running back Ray Rice.

Following the news that Ahmad Bradshaw broke his leg and would miss the rest of the regular season, Indianapolis Colts fans immediately started questioning whether or not the team would look to sign a running back. Ray Rice was a name that came up very quickly, along with both Ben Tate and LeGarrette Blount who were released from their respective teams due to bad attitudes and lack of production.

Ben Tate was claimed off of waivers by the Minnesota Vikings, while Blount is still an option for the Colts should they choose to go that route.

Rice was perhaps the most intriguing name out there, as he was a star running back and one of the more talented young players in the league just a few short years ago. He got into a lot of trouble this year after video footage was released of him punching his wife in the face and dragging her unconscious body out of the elevator they were in when the punch occurred.

Needless to say, the NFL acted quickly and firmly and the Baltimore Ravens ended up releasing him as well. Rice is going through the process of being reinstated into the NFL, and the decision could be coming very soon that he could play this season if a team signed him. That being said, the Colts will not have interest in him even if he is cleared to return to the NFL soon.

It’s going to be a very tough process for Rice to find a team that will be willing to sign him with the PR hailstorm that would follow the move. Rice has plenty of talent and has the potential to get his career on track, but it just isn’t going to be easy for him to convince another team to give him a chance. There will be a team that signs him at some point in the future, but this season isn’t necessarily likely.

Indianapolis doesn’t like to gamble on off-field issues, and they are especially disinterested in that after the way that the Da’Rick Rogers situation went down. Rice would be a nice fit in the Indianapolis offense, but they aren’t interested in taking that chance. Blount is the only name left on the free agent market out of the three most rumored names, and the Colts might have some interest in him at the right price.
