The Indiana Hoosiers were able to knock off the Pittsburgh Panthers 81-69 at home in Assembly Hall.
Bloomington, IN – The Indiana Hoosiers were able to improve to 6-1 on the season with a nice 81-69 at home against the Pittsburgh Panthers in the ACC/Big Ten challenge this evening. It was a nice win for the Hoosiers as they look to get back into the national media’s attention following their bad loss to Eastern Washington.
Tom Crean’s team played hard all night long and they were able dominate the majority of the game and got the job done in the end. It will be intriguing to see whether or not they can continue winning over the next couple of weeks, especially against teams like the fifth ranked Louisville Cardinals and 23rd ranked Butler Bulldogs.
Emmitt Holt came off of the bench to lead the Hoosiers in scoring this evening with 15 points on 6-6 shooting from the floor. James Blackmon Jr. also had another nice game, scoring 13 points and grabbing five rebounds, while Yogi Ferrell scored 11 points on the night and dished out four assists.

Troy Williams was the only other double digit scorer for Indiana on the night with 10 points. Collin Hartman scored seven points to go along with seven rebounds off of the bench.
Chris Jones led the way in scoring for Pittsburgh with 18 points, and also grabbed six rebounds. Josh Newkirk came off the bench to score 16 points on the night, while Michael Young was the other double figure scorer for the Panthers with 13.
All of that being said, the Hoosiers were able to get the job done against a quality basketball team this evening. They should be very happy with their performance and it is certainly exciting for the team moving forward. Coming off of the disappointing finish to last season, a bounce back year is something that they could really use.
Indiana will now look ahead to their next game on December 6th against the Savannah State Tigers.
