The Purdue Boilermakers came away with an 87-46 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

West Lafayette, IN – The Purdue Boilermakers were able to improve to 8-2 on the season with an 87-46 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves. They have been playing much better basketball this season than they have in quite some time, and the excitement has returned to Mackey Arena. Obviously this game was supposed to be dominated by Purdue, but taking care of business is sometimes harder than it looks.

It was a fairly easy game all night long, and the Boilermakers were leading 52-18 at halftime. They were able to dig deep into their bench and get a lot of confidence flowing with this win.

Purdue was led in scoring by Kendall Stephens, who came off of the bench to score 18 points on 6-9 shooting, including 6-7 from behind the three-point arc. The Boilermakers really need him to figure things out and get back to shooting and scoring the ball like that.

Both A.J. Hammons and Dakota Mathias scored 10 points apiece to round out the double digit scorers for the Boilermakers. Rapheal Davis and Jon Octeus both scored nine points apiece in the starting lineup, while Bryson Scott also came off of the bench to score eight points on the night.

Arkansas State had just two players in double figures, with Anthony Livingston and Nouhourn Bocoum scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

That being said, this was still a big win for the Boilermakers’ confidence. They have looked good for the majority of the season, but did falter at home against the Northern Florida Ospreys and lost by three points. Now they have won two straight games and are looking to make it three next time out on the road against Vanderbilt.
