IU Football Hauls In Three Big Commitments
Going into is weekend, IU Football appeared to be gaining momentum on the recruiting trail, nabbing a big wide receiver in UAB transfer, Marqui Hawkins. To say that momentum has grown this weekend would be an understatement.
The Hoosiers had been successful in getting some pretty high-profile recruits to make official visits to Bloomington the past few weekends, and those visits appear to have paid dividends.
Per multiple reports, the Hoosiers recieved verbal commitments this weekend from 3-star Carmel, IN Athlete Isaac James, St. Louis O-lineman DeVondre Love, and Maryland prep standout, 3-star safety Tyler Green.
Isaac James, a talented in-state prospect, chose IU after pondering 13 division one offers, including Northwestern, Missouri, and Wisconsin. James has played a wide variety of positions for the Greyhounds in Carmel, but is expected to line up at wide receiver for the Cream and Crimson. James brings significant speed (4.4 second 40 yard dash) to the Hoosier wideout squad, and is an excellent student, sporting a 3.1 GPA.

In DeVondre Love, Hoosier assistant Greg Frey gains one mountain of a man for his offensive line. At a reported 6’7, 290 lbs, Love will be one of the biggest Hoosiers the day he sets foot on campus, and he won’t play against many bigger players, even in Big Ten play. Throw into that equation, Indiana’s highly touted strength, conditioning and nutrition program, and it would be a good bet that he’ll add even more muscle to an already intimidating frame.
Likely the most heralded of the trio of Hoosier pick-ups is 6’2″ Maryland safety, Tyler Green. Originally a commitment to Ohio State, Green chose the Hoosiers over offers from the perennial Big Ten powerhouse Buckeyes, as well as from high major programs Michigan, Maryland, and Virginia. Green figures to bring size and athleticism to a Indiana secondary that has often been overmatched and undersized in Big Ten play. A nationally ranked player at his position, Green is considered a huge addition to a Hoosier defense that must see continuing improvement, if Indiana is to hope for bowl eligibility in 2015 and beyond.
UAB transfer, running back Jordan Howard still has the Hoosiers on his radar, as do many other top-notch prospects. Kevin Wilson may continue to add to his recruiting windfall in the weeks to come. Stay tuned, Hoosier fans. This may get fun.
