Austin King committed to play his college football at Indiana University, and is expected to compete for playing time early on. The 6’2″, 192 pound quarterback out of Alpharetta, Georgia is a very talented player who has displayed a great work ethic and the ability to improve quickly. Kevin Wilson targeted him early on in recruiting, and made it a point to push for King’s commitment.
Indiana had some major issues at the quarterback position this past season, and bringing in a talent like King is huge moving forward for the Hoosiers.
Evan Massey and Jeremy Haeseley of InkOnIndy.com were able to connect with Austin and do an exclusive interview with one of the newest additions to IU. We hope that you enjoy the interview, and follow Austin along as he takes the next step in his football career.
Q. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview Austin. How are you doing today?

Q. What do you feel are your best QB qualities? What do you feel needs the most work?
A. My best qualities are my knowledge for the game, arm talent, and ability to make a play. I need to work most on my speed and learning Indiana’s playbook.
Q. What is your intended major a IU?
A. Business.
Q. How long has IU been on your list? When did you begin leaning towards them?
A. They’ve been on my list since this spring. I’ve been leaning towards them since Kevin Wilson came to my house and chatted for three hours about why I should go there.
Q. Is there a currently college quarterback that you pattern your game after?
A. There is not.
Q. How would you describe your game to a fan who hasn’t seen much of you?
A. Have a good knowledge for the game, great work ethic, ability to make any throw on the field.
Q. Tell us about how you are off the field. What do you enjoy doing?
A. I like to hangout with all my buddies and watch football and just do normal High School kid things. Enjoy that and watching football on the weekends.
Q. Thanks for your time Austin! Would you like to say anything to the IU fan base in closing?
A. I and this class are determined to turn this program around. That’s why I’m coming here. Thanks!
Needless to say, King is a very mature player who is ready to come in and make a play to be a starter early on in his career. He possesses all of the physical abilities, and is very confident in his game.
It is going to be exciting to see him get to IU and get his collegiate football career underway. There is no question that he has the potential to become a special player, and the Hoosiers have needed that for quite some time. Kevin Wilson has done an excellent job of bringing in young talent in this class, and King might very well be the best one that he has gotten.
