Indianapolis, IN – The Indiana Pacers were able to improve to 12-21 on the season with a huge 106-95 win over their rival Miami Heat. It was a great game all the way through, but the Pacers took control in the second half with excellent defense and a powerful offensive attack.

Miami took control early on, and led the Pacers by nine heading into halftime, but Indiana outscored them 36-19 in the third quarter to take control heading to the fourth. Needless to say, this was a big win for the Pacers after a disappointing 92-90 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, and the entire team responded well. Now that they are healthy, they are beginning to improve and get used to playing with each other once again.

C.J. Miles played a huge game for the Pacers on the afternoon, scoring 25 points off of the bench. He nailed five three-point shots on the night, and also grabbed eight rebounds while dishing out four assists. The hometown hero George Hill also played a big game, scoring 20 points on 7-14 shooting.

C.J. Watson came off of the bench to score 11 points, while both Roy Hibbert and David West scored 10 points each. Hibbert polished off a double-double with 10 rebounds as well.

Dwyane Wade led the Heat in scoring with 20 points, but it simply wasn’t enough to power his team to a victory. Chris Bosh played a good game as well with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Luol Deng chipped in with 15 points. Former Pacers’ star Danny Granger came back to Indianapolis for his first game as an opponent, and scored 14 points off of the bench. Chris Andersen was the only other double digit scorer for Miami with 11 points.

Obviously this is a very nice win to finish off the 2014 year, and it raised the mood of the Pacers and their fans. They are only a couple games behind the Heat for the final spot in the playoffs, and still fully believe that they will end up making it.

Indiana will now look ahead to their next game on Friday night on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks.
