Bjoern Werner Inactive For The Colts
By Evan Massey

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Bjoern Werner is a healthy scratch against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
The Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots are facing off in the AFC Championship game tonight, and they are listed as major underdogs against the top-seeded Patriots.
These two teams are major rivals, and it is going to be a very hotly contested game. Both teams are going to bring a bit more to the field due to this being a rivalry game, but the Colts are also looking to avenge an embarrassing 42-20 loss in Week 11 at the hands of New England. Andrew Luck and the Colts’ offense will need to put together a big game, and the defense has to play like they did last week against the Denver Broncos.

Bjoern Werner is one name that will not be taking a part of the action, as the Colts have made him a healthy scratch.

Werner was expected to be a much improved player this season, but he hasn’t recorded a sack since October 19th against the Cincinnati Bengals. Needless to say, that statistic isn’t good for Werner and is likely the biggest reason that he isn’t playing this evening. Rookie defensive end Jonathan Newsome is likely going to take the playing time.
Newsome has been impressive this season, and finished the regular season with 6.5 sacks. He also came up with a huge sack and forced fumble last week against the Denver Broncos.
Unfortunately, Werner hasn’t been anything close to the talent that the Colts saw in him when they drafted him with the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
