Duron Carter: Colts Favorites To Sign CFL Star WR

The Indianapolis Colts appear to be the front-runners to sign CFL star wide receiver Duron Carter.

Duron Carter is the son of former NFL star wide receiver Cris Carter, and he is about to get another shot at the NFL. He went undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft, and wasn’t able to make the Minnesota Vikings’ roster.

At this point in time, the Indianapolis Colts look to be the front-runners to sign Carter. February 10th is when teams can sign Carter, and the Colts are without a doubt the team that he would like to play for. Minnesota might be a team that looks to bring him back, but they aren’t nearly as attractive of a landing spot as Indianapolis.

Indianapolis has a need at the wide receiver position with both Hakeem Nicks and Reggie Wayne on expiring contracts this offseason. Wayne could end up retiring, and it isn’t clear if the Colts plan to bring Nicks back.

Carter has had a big two seasons with 1,939 yards and 12 touchdowns on 124 receptions. Those numbers are impressive, and the Colts would be more than happy to add him to their roster.

Andrew Luck already led the Colts to being the number one passing offense this past season, and Carter would fit very well alongside of both T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief. Don’t be surprised to see the Colts lock him up soon after he’s allowed to sign with an NFL team. They obviously want him, and he has made it clear that he would like to play in Indianapolis.

It will be very interesting to see what type of impact he can make next season assuming he gets on the field. The Colts are hoping that Wayne will decide to come back for one more season, but if he doesn’t Carter would be a very solid replacement if he plays up to his full potential.
