Indiana Hoosiers 2015 football recruit Austin Dorris took the time to do an exclusive interview with InkOnIndy.com.

Austin Dorris is a 6’5″ and 220-pound tight end committed to play his college football at Indiana University. The Hoosiers have had a rough recent history as far as the football program is concerned, but they believe that they are beginning to turn things back around.

He is part of a very talented 2015 recruiting class at Indiana, and is hoping to be a big part of turning the Hoosier football program back around. It will be even more intriguing watching him as he just made the position switch from quarterback to tight end. Here are some of his highlights from his junior season at Shadyside High School in Ohio:

Needless to say, he looks to be a very athletic and talented player that will fill a role when he does join the Hoosiers. There is no question that he will be a big target, and it will be fun to watch him grow and become an even more polished all-around tight end over the next few years.

Austin agreed to do an exclusive interview with us here at Ink On Indy, and we hope that you enjoy it!

EM. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview, Austin. How are you doing today?

AD. Great! Any day as a Hoosier is a great day.

EM. What made you choose to commit to the Hoosiers?

AD. After I went to a camp there and visited a few times, I fell in love with Bloomington. Also, the coaches are top notch. They know how to make a recruit feel wanted.

EM. IU’s football program has been in a slump of late. How do you feel about the program moving forward?

AD. I’m not worried about that. The other commits and I know what this team is capable of, and we all just hope to help them to a great season, then continually get better.

EM. How would you describe your game to a fan who hasn’t seen much of you?

AD. I would say I’m a big, very athletic tight end, and I’ll do whatever the coach asks of me.

EM. Is there a current tight end in either college or the NFL that you would compare your game to?

AD. Well considering I played QB the last two years of High School, it’s kind of hard to compare. But I like to think of myself as a Jason Witten type of player.

EM. Speaking of the position switch. How difficult has that been for you?

AD. There are pros and cons to it. I love running routes and catching passes and I love being physical, but I have to learn how to properly block, which there’s no doubt that I can do.

EM. Where do you see yourself in three years?

AD. Having a successful career at IU, and preparing to receive my degree in broadcast journalism.

EM. What do you enjoy doing in your free time off the field?

AD. Watching TV series on Netflix and hanging out with my friends.

EM. What would you like to say to the IU fan base in closing?

AD. Get behind IU football and continue to cheer us on, and you won’t be disappointed!
