Perhaps the biggest issue for the Colts heading into this offseason is the running game. There are plenty of free agent options for the Colts, and one of them is current Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller. Buffalo likely won’t bring him back next year, but the Colts could have interest in him with the playmaking ability that he possesses.

Despite the talent that he possesses and the perfect that he would be with Andrew Luck and the Colts, his injury issues are a major concern as well.

Obviously the last thing that the Colts need is another injury prone running back. Both Vick Ballard and Ahmad Bradshaw saw their seasons end early due to injuries, and Indianapolis Can’t afford to sign a new running back and hope that he can stay healthy. That being said, the Colts could still be interested in Spiller if he comes at the right price.

This past season with the Bills, Spiller ended up being able to play in just nine regular season games. He carried the football 78 times for 300 yards and no touchdowns.

Those numbers may not look good for him, but he still has the type of potential to turn things around and be a legitimate starting running back.

Indianapolis is going to be in the market for a running back, and Spiller definitely would be an option for them. There are other options like Frank Gore and Justin Forsett who are higher quality running backs, but Spiller would be much cheaper than either of those two.

Ryan Grigson is going to have some big decisions ahead of him this offseason. Spiller isn’t necessarily their best option, but he is still a very solid player that could help the Colts if he ends up staying healthy.
