Indianapolis Colts: Adrian Peterson Should Be Top Priority For Ryan Grigson, Colts
Earlier this evening, it had been announced that running back Adrian Peterson had not been reinstated after the judge ruled against the NFL in his appeal, taking the case back to the CBA process.
But that doesn’t mean that thousands of other fans, including myself, can dream, does it?
Two years ago, when Adrian Peterson was taking the league by storm, rushing for more than 2,000 yards while winning the 2012 NFL MVP, it seemed closer to a dream than a reality that fans of the football world would see Peterson playing anywhere else but with the purple and gold.

Two seasons and a suspension later, and here we are with the possibility of Peterson finding a new home.
Earlier today, Peterson’s dad had revealed that he has “heard buzz” of a few teams being interested in a trade for the 29-year-old running back.
The Indianapolis Colts being one of those teams.
Now, this is all merely speculation, but with recent reports of the Colts monitoring Peterson’s situation, and the fact that Ryan Grigson and co. will have over $40 million in cap space for the 2015 season, it all makes too much sense as to why Adrian Peterson joining Andrew Luck and the Colts makes too much sense.
Just think about Andrew Luck having Adrian Peterson to hand the ball off to in games to take the work load off Luck’s shoulders. The run game (which ranked 22nd this past year) would increase significantly with AP in the backfield.
Many would argue that the offensive line needs some improvement before anyone thinks about AP, and I wholeheartedly agree for the most part, but one could also argue that Adrian Peterson could make something out of nothing with this offensive-line, well, because he is Adrian Peterson after all, whom I believe is the best back in the NFL.

Money is also a big part of the equation for situations like these. With Peterson scheduled to make $15 million in 2015, and retaining the 2012 draft class being one of Grigson’s top priorities, things could become complicated if the Colts are in fact seriously interested in acquiring Peterson.
It also is a possibility that Peterson is released by the Vikings. It doesn’t seem likely though, as Minnesota has expressed its intent and focus to welcome Peterson back with open arms.
It has all been one big storm of speculation and rumors in terms of what Peterson’s future with the Vikings holds. It’s worth noting that Peterson’s agent, Ben Dogra, had to be separated from Vikings’ vice president of football operations, Rob Brzezinski after a heated altercation last week at the combine after Dogra reportedly told Brzezinski that the veteran back would “never play another game for the Vikings again.”
But, if the reports stick to be true, and Peterson does in fact end up released from Minnesota, that’s where the Colts can step in and hopefully sign Peterson to a contract relatively cheaper than the $15 million he’d be making with Minnesota.
The run game has been the Achilles heel of this team for years, and the acquisition of Peterson would give the Colts a great running game to accompany the passing game. Something that Colts fans haven’t seen for years.
With the failed experiment of Trent Richardson, and uncertainties of the health of both Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard, it makes too much sense as to why the Colts would be wise to get Adrian Peterson.
As long as Grigson doesn’t give up too much, or make a move that could potentially put the Colts in salary cap hell in the future, I say go for it.
It could be a move that could put the Colts over the top for the future and get them to the Super Bowl. If I’m Grigson, I’m pulling the trigger and making it happen.
