The Pelicans don’t have a 1st round pick this year (rights go to the Rockets). With new head coach Alvin Gentry coming in fresh off an NBA Championship, as an assistant on the Golden St. Warriors, it could be time for the Pelicans to start truly trying to build around Anthony Davis.

Though the Warriors played small ball, the Pelicans trio of guards, aren’t on the level of the Splash Brothers. Jrue Holiday is coming off injury, and Eric Gordon stays hurt, so the real payer of value would be Tyreke Evans.

Evans is only 25 years old, and at 6’6 can handle the ball, dish it, and rebound. Tyreke could bring a Lance Stephenson type of game back to the Pacers without the drama and chemistry issues.

Once again the hiccup would be matching salaries. Roy Hibbert would be an upgrade of Omer Asik, in most aspects, and take some pressure of Anthony Davis down low. If only Hibbert would make up his mind.
