Around Indiana: A Weekend for Weddings

Colts Star Vontae Davis Ties the Knot #DavisWedding2015
When it comes to June and July for Indianapolis Colts fans any player news this time of year comes with trepidation. Annually the time between OTA’s and training camp is when the news wire is riddled with player mishaps, injuries, arrests and other extraneous faux pas.
This time around it’s a celebration as Colts defensive star Vontae Davis married his long time girlfriend Megan Harpe. The wedding ceremony was held Saturday June 27th at Regis Bahia Beach in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Indianapolis Star’s Dana Hunsinger Benbow highlighted how the couple met and how it all worked out.
"It was her best friend’s birthday and Harpe was in Washington, D.C. — Davis’ hometown — in July of 2010, celebrating at K Street Lounge. Davis was also at the lounge and Harpe noticed him “awkwardly staring at her from a distance for the majority of the evening,” the couple’s website says. As the night wore on, Davis finally got up the courage to approach Harpe and said: “Hi, you have very strong legs, are you an athlete?” Harpe recalls thanking him, but feeling a bit awkward. “Intrigued by his unconventional approach to conversation, she decided to give him her number,” the website says. It all worked out."
Also in attendance for the #DavisWedding2015 was Colts head coach Chuck Pagano and fellow teammates and friends. You can even see their wedding photos and the couple’s back story on their wedding website.
With so much expectation for Davis and Co. in Indianapolis this season this is just one more reason to celebrate. Davis will be a key cog in the Colts defense once again this season. Now his mind is no longer on a proposal or a wedding ring, but a completely different ring. He and his teammates can now focus on obtaining that ever-elusive Super Bowl ring.
