Pacers Summer League Review, News and Notes
By Dave McKee
Well Pacers fans, the NBA Summer League in Orlando is over. The Pacers (1-4) only had two veteran players on the roster for the five game tournament, Shayne Whittington and Solomon Hill. Hill left for Indiana after participating in only three games so there was plenty of opportunity for the rest of the roster to get their shot.

The Summer League is an audition for players in the rookie and free agent camp. The record does not count for much. Playing time on the court is held in the same regard as snaps in a preseason football game. You don’t expect the best players on the court for long and you want to see who can profit most from their minutes on the court. The audition is more for the league than it is for the team. Their audition is for as every team to see as the teams look to uncover a hidden gem in every Summer League location.
The standings for these events are points based and as Ben Gibson of 8points9seconds said, “In a way the NBA’s summer leagues are something like the show ‘Whose Line Is it Anyway?’: The league where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.”
