Chuck Pagano Has Something to Prove This Year
By Dave McKee
Jan 11, 2015; Denver, CO, USA; Denver Broncos head coach John Fox and Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano embrace after the Indianapolis Colts
In 2012, the Colts surprised everyone by completing a 9 game turnaround and a playoff appearance. In 2013, they advanced to the AFC divisional round. Last season The Colts made it to the AFC Championship game before being routed by the New England Patriots 41-7. The pattern is set and the expectations for a Super Bowl appearance are justifiable.

There is a lot of belief in Pagano by Irsay, GM Ryan Grigson and the Colts players. If you look at the offseason moves the Colts have made this year it is obvious they are gearing up for a run at the Super Bowl this year.
If the Colts’ front office is so fond of Chuck Pagano – and he wants to stay in Indy – then why hasn’t the deal been completed? Most coaches in the final year of their contract have certain performance goals required by their employers to earn their extensions.
The Colts have one goal – hoisting the Lombardi Trophy – and by all estimates look to make good on expectations. So what does Pagano need to do to secure his future with the Colts? Quite simply, he has to prove his defense can be as good as his reputation indicates.
