November 14: Depauw v. Wabash

Much can be said about the significance of the Monon Bell game to many in the state of Indiana, but the trophy means more to nobody else but the players themselves who will fight for this fancied prize in the second week of November.

In terms of historical significance, the Depauw-Wabash rivalry goes back about as far as any rivalry in the country in any sport, professional or college, dating all the way back to 1890 when Depauw beat their new foes by a 34-5 score. Just 120 games later, it is Wabash who leads the all-time series record, 59-53-9, but will have all the work to do in keeping the bell for a 7th straight year.

Depauw, meanwhile, looks to break that streak and reclaim their prize for the first time since 2008 when they held it for two years running. No question this game is already on the schedule for college football fans both in-state and out of state, and with winter weather approaching this is already seeming to be one of the most intriguing games of the football season.

November 24 (Tuesday): Ball State v. Bowling Green

The Ball State Cardinals host conference foes Bowling Green on the last day of their season in late November and need to right a series record that is quite lopsided in the favor of BGSU, 20-9-1.

The Cardinals were victors last season against the Falcons in their first matchup since 2009 and want a similar result when they end their year that Tuesday night. Ball State finished last year 5-7 overall with a 4-4 conference record, but were bolstered by a 41-24 win in Bowling Green, Ohio at the end of the season.

Now it’s the Falcons turns to see if they can turn things around for this season, and it all comes down to this final game in the MAC.
