Practice for Indiana’s two Big Ten schools, Indiana University and Purdue University, began today outside Memorial and Ross Ade Stadium’s respectively.

Both practices are closed and media availability is short, but with the season less than a month away it is time to strap the pads and hit the field for drills.

The Boilers are coming from a 3-9 season, 1-7 in the Big Ten, but are confident that things will turn around this year behind new defensive playmaker LB Jawhaun Bentley, where the Hoosiers are coming off a 4-8 season, also 1-7 in the Big Ten, and are hopping that their quarterback consistencies will pay off.

Purdue’s non-conference schedule consists of a few teams they hope to knock off as a confidence boost, including an away game at Marshall before hosting three straight with Indiana State, Virginia Tech, and Bowling Green. Following that, Big Ten play begins with Michigan State.

Indiana’s season opens with three straight home games involving Southern Illinois, FIU, and Western Kentucky, before traveling down to North Carolina to play Wake Forest. The Hoosiers’ B1G season begins with a home game against the reigning National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes on October 3rd.

The two will collide when the Old Oaken Bucket game returns to West Lafayette, though it is the Hoosiers who have won the last two years and look to continue that streak in late November.
