With Colts Camp at an end, the focus for Indianapolis is on their first preseason opponent… the Philadelphia Eagles.

There are two important dates to remember during the preseason. On September 1, the Colts have to cut the 90-man roster to 75. Four days later, they must trim it down again to the final 53-man roster. The first three games of the preseason will be played with the entire 90-man roster. Players on the bubble have those three games to set themselves apart from their competition. The final preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals is the last chance for those remaining on the 75-man roster to make the cut.

There were a quite a few revelations among the position battles and even fewer disappointments. Surprisingly, the competition was so heavy at some positions like wide receiver, it is hard to determine the actual pecking order. The unofficial depth chart posted by the Colts is fluid at best. The trouble is, that even it can look extremely different between now and preseason’s end.

As always, it is our pleasure to share our deliberations with you. The expectations of the Colts being in Santa Clara, California come  February are even more vivid now. The first step in their quest of hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl 50 is complete. Step Two begins on Sunday with the Colts first preseason action game visiting the Philadelphia Eagles.
