Reggie Miller Turns 50: The Best Tweets
The “elder statesman” is still quite popular in the state of Indiana, and for good reason.
If you head to Bankers Life for a Pacers game this season, there’s a good chance you’ll see folks sporting the #31 jersey of Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller who spent all 18 years of his NBA career in Indianapolis as a Pacer.
Miller retired in 2005 – his number hanging from the rafters of then Conseco Fieldhouse – but still remains a popular figure and receives an ovation every time he comes to town. These days, Miller makes his living as a broadcaster returning to Indy only as a member of the TNT broadcasting team, but people here still celebrate the Riverside native when given a chance.
Today is Miller’s 50th birthday, and here’s how the Internet acted accordingly:
The Pacers opted for a traditional throwback photo and mandatory hashtag #Reggie50, a classy move from his former team. The team then tweeted out a compilation of 50 of his best 3-pointers, worth a look:
Others took a more humorous approach towards Reggie’s big 5-0:
David Benner is the head of Media Relations for the Indiana Pacers and expectedly has a sense of humor when dealing with Reggie, whose on-court antics will never be forgotten by the state of Indiana.
Miller’s employers TNT highlighted #31’s career with a nice photographic compiled with some of the best images from his career.
ESPN recognizing Miller’s birthday with a tweet from NBA guru Marc Stein.
And finally, a tweet from the man himself.
Happy birthday, Reginald Wayne Miller. An Indiana legend through and through.
