Glenn Robinson III, is one of those signings, that unfortunately, has been somewhat overlooked due to all the Pacers offseason roster activity.
“I want to learn everything I can from Paul and become the superstar that he is, because for me, I believe the sky is the limit.”
His signing was announced along with Shayne Whittington and Rakeem Christmas only one month ago. Speaking with Glenn Robinson he confirmed what I saw in his game film. This young man is good and not nearly close to his ceiling.
Now he gets to improve as a small forward by training daily with superstar Paul George and getting pointers from the legendary Larry Bird who knows the position better than anyone. With such tools at his disposal within a top-notch organization, this is the perfect opportunity for Glenn Robinson to re-establish himself as a household name.
Larry Bird evidently saw enough in Glenn Robinson III to scoop him up off the Atlanta Hawks Summer League roster last month, he has praised Robinson as a defender even mentioning that he thinks Glenn Robinson III can become a premier, lock-down perimeter defender in the NBA.
"“Glenn comes to us with a set of skills we think will blend in with our team,” Bird said. “We expect him to be very good on the defensive end and he can score the ball. We look forward to seeing him improve throughout the year.”"
While speaking with Glenn, I asked what it felt like to be praised by Larry Legend, a man who does not easily dole out the compliments.
"“It felt great and I’m happy to be complimented by him. He doesn’t always hand out such compliments so you know he has to see some ability in me if he says that. I talk to Mr. Bird everyday and everyday he is out there helping me improve. It’s such an honor to learn from a NBA legend like him especially someone who has played at his level at my position.”"
