Kevin Wilson enters 2015 on the Hot Seat. Will the return of the Maxwell Award candidate Nate Sudfeld be enough to propel the Indiana Hoosiers to a bowl game and save Wilson’s job?
Indiana Hoosiers head football coach, Kevin Wilson is heading into a pivotal year in 2015. There is no question. Wilson is on the hot seat, it’s do-or-die, entering this season. Coach Wilson knew exactly what the situation was at Indiana. The Cream and Crimson has been to one bowl (2007) in 17 seasons. The last time the Hoosiers were ranked in the top-20? 1967.
Last year was absolutely disappointing. Yes, Hoosier football fans should be used to 5 wins or less each season, but 2014 was supposed to be different. After beating Missouri on the road, Indiana started 2-1 despite the upset loss to Bowling Green. But the season went downhill after the season-ending injury to quarterback Nate Sudfeld. The Indiana Hoosiers shuffled through three quarterbacks after Sudfeld went down. Without Sudfeld on the field the Hoosiers offense stagnated and they never reached their true potential despite the presence of Tevin Coleman in the backfield.
The storyline for the 2015 season? How will Wilson figure out success in order to keep his job? Can Wilson help his team turn youth to experience and losses into wins?
