Colts’ Total List of Roster Cuts and Waiver Claims and Other Transactions

Let’s review the Colts past 72 hours. From 75 to 53 roster cuts, 10 practice squad signings, two waiver claims and the trade for Sio Moore it may take some further visual aide to grasp the strengths and weakness of the roster. From the graphic below provided by the folks @MyColtsAccount, There are two very glaring needs that remain to be filled after the first 24-hours of waiver claims – nose tackle and defensive tackle.  The Colts only kept five defensive linemen and that is simply not enough big bodies to rotate through a 16-week season. If they want to focus on stopping the run, there are going to need to be some additions to those two spots. Perhaps they take a flyer of Darnell Docket or Louis Nix III who were both cut on Saturday.

The Colts have added two players off waivers from other teams. They were awarded defensive tackle T.Y. McGill from Seattle. McGill, formerly of the Seahawks training camp had performed well before his release. McGill, as can be seen below, played for the N.C. State Wolfpack. The Colts also claimed and were awarded rookie offensive guard Robert “Snacks” Myers who was a 5th round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in this year’s NFL Draft. Myers previously played at Tennessee State and is a big bodied guard standing at 6-5, 326 lbs.

Another addition to the team was made on Friday night as the Colts traded a sixth-round pick in the 2016 draft to the Raiders for outside linebacker Sio Moore. in 2014, Moore

One of the ten players Signed back to the Colts practice squad was Duron Carter. Yes, the gamble paid off and the high-ceiling legacy will stay in a Colts uniform. Apparently, no other team wanted to dedicate a roster spot to develop him over the season. This is a fact I find simply astonishing. He’s going to be good once he gets used to the speed on the NFL. Now, he gets to learn from All-Pro Andre Johnson for the rest of the season. I suspect he eventually gets called back up to the active roster.

Former rugby player and fan favorite Daniel Adongo has also been signed to the practice squad. His development is not complete, but he was noticeable in the preseason and showed improvement throughout training camp.

Former Colts linebacker Josh McNary had been released in January due to allegations of Rape and wrongful imprisonment. His release was not disciplinary, but more to allow him to focus on his legal battle. For McNary, it is back to football. Just last week his trial completed. He was acquitted of all charges.

Filling out the practice squad is: OG, David Arkin; WR, Quan Bray; OT, Ulrick John; FS, Dewey MacDonald; CB, Eric Patterson; DT, Jeris Pendleton and TE, Erik Swoope.
