George Hill and girlfriend are expecting their first child

News to almost all except George Hill and his longtime girlfriend Samantha Garcia, according to a report from the Indy Star, Hill will be accepting two positions this year – point guard, and father.

It’s not just the hair that Indiana Pacers guard George Hill has changed since the beginning of summer – it’s his outlook on the future. Hill told the Star’s Nate Taylor earlier today that he found out his longtime girlfriend, Samantha Garcia, and him are expecting a child.

Here is George Hill earlier this month accepting the Major Taylor Award, given to the Broad Ripple native “due to his exemplary community service and commitment to excellence in the field of athletics.”

The award is cool and all, but the Pacers point guard will find a lot more to life with his first child coming along – which, by the way, is expected to arrive midseason.

Earlier in the week, George Hill told media that he was looking to be more “aggressive” this season – even more so than last season. He emphasized that the team is better when he plays that way, and the he is better as well. It’s easy to say that the Pacers will be searching for much of the same George Hill they got last season, and it’s especially important given the departure of David West and the best “glue guy” to ever grace a Pacers uniform. Paul George has been quick to step into a leadership role, as he should be, but Hill is still the second-longest tenured guy in Indy behind #13 and will have to address the floor and locker room in bigger ways than ever before.

Regardless, congratulations to George Hill and his girlfriend, and best of luck with everything going forward.
