Colts: Player Values on DraftKings For Week 7

facebooktwitterreddit

Week 6 wasn’t a blowout like most people thought it would be. And on top of that, several Indianapolis Colts player put up solid fantasy points in DraftKings. Now the Colts welcome the New Orleans Saints to town for a Week 7 showdown.

The Colts offense performed well in week 6. For the first time this year, I was actually close on my DraftKings/Colts analysis. That credit goes to the New England Patriots defense who has been completely stagnant against quarterbacks and wide receivers all season.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck finished with 31.0 points, running back Frank Gore had 11.4 points, and wide receivers T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief finished with 19.4 points and 18.9 points respectively. However, the Colts defense played a lot better than expected and finished with 9.0 points, which is better than -9.0 which felt possible before kickoff.

In Week 7, the Colts welcome the New Orleans Saints to Lucas Oil Stadium in what could easily become a shootout.

Quarterback – Andrew Luck ($7,600)

Luck didn’t look 100 percent against the Patriots, and no one expected him to, but he played better than he has all season. He topped 20 DraftKings fantasy points – finished with 31.0 – for the first time this season. With the Saints giving up 22.98 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Luck feels like a solid play this week.

Running Back – Frank Gore ($4,900) and Ahmad Bradshaw ($3,000)

The Colts, in a desperate attempt to comeback, dropped back 26 straight times at the end of the Patriots games, which means Gore’s production was severely limited last week. 11.4 points is all he could muster, but it was his fourth straight week with 10-plus points. Through the first four weeks, the Saints were dominating running backs, but in the last two weeks they’ve given up a combined 63.6 points. With the Colts unlikely to fall behind, Gore is a safe play this week.

More from Andrew Luck

On the flip-side, this will be Bradshaw’s first DFS week. He didn’t see much playing time – four carries and one reception – but it was also his first week back in the NFL. Bradshaw needs another week or two before it would make since dropping him in your Flex position.

Wide Receiver – T.Y. Hilton ($6,500), Donte Moncrief ($5,200) and Andre Johnson ($4,300)

All three receivers had respectable numbers against the Patriots, but part of that would be due to the Colts playing from behind most of the second half. Hilton and Moncrief both finished with 18-plus points and Johnson had his best game with Luck under center. The Saints secondary isn’t anything to really worry about, so Hilton and Moncrief are obvious plays and Johnson is my sleeper pick of the week. Two straight weeks of solid performances will lead to a game where he scores 10-plus points for only the second time this year.

Tight End – Coby Fleener ($3,000) and Dwayne Allen ($2,700)

Both tight ends finished with about five fantasy points last week; nothing to really get excited about. Both still remain very dependent upon red zone touchdowns and are not great plays unless you are in a salary cap pinch.

Defense – Colts ($2,300)

I really thought the Patriots were going to put up well over 31 points last week, but the Colts defense really showed some poise. They finished with nine points, their second-best scoring output of the season. This week has the makings of a shootout, which might not be a bad thing for the Colts defense if they can grab an interception or two, or it could go south quickly if the Saints receivers show up.
