Pacers waive C.J. Fair and Kadeem Jack

The Indiana Pacers today announced that they have waived F Kadeem Jack and F C.J. Fair to drop the roster down to 16 spots, one more until the magic number.

Yesterday, I wrote about how the Pacers had to cut their roster down from 18 to 15 players, and today the organization has taken one step towards that by waiving the two players most likely to get the boot.

C.J. Fair and Kadeem Jack have been ticked off the Indiana Pacers roster, now most likely to sign with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA D-League. Kadeem Jack played limited minutes in one preseason game while C.J. Fair saw time in five of the seven games and averaged 1.6 points per game.

It was probably always going to happen for these two, unfortunately, as Indiana is set in their respective positions with the introduction of Glenn Robinson III to significant preseason minutes. However, the work isn’t done for the Blue & Gold organization as there is still one more roster spot that needs clearing.

Shayne Whittington and Toney Douglas are the favorites now, especially the latter given Indiana’s preference to Whittington last season. However, nothing is set in stone and the Pacers have until Monday to make their final decision. It appears Rakeem Christmas has a spot locked, so it looks as if Douglas will be on the outside looking in if Whittington is not the one to go. That said, don’t rule out Whittington being gone. Italicized for emphasis.

Regardless, roster cuts are due by Monday to trim the final roster down to 15, and the Pacers NBA season starts on Wednesday, October 28 in Toronto against the Raptors. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET with radio and TV coverage available.
