Pacers assign G Joe Young to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants
The Indiana Pacers announced earlier tonight they have assigned guard Joe Young to their NBA D-League affiliate the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Small news out of Indianapolis tonight after the Pacers victory over the Miami Heat – Indiana announces that they will send rookie guard Joe Young to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, but possibly only for the weekend per Young’s twitter account.
Making the move, Young will join both Rakeem Christmas and Shayne Whittington, two Pacers forwards who are already on duty in Fort Wayne.
It’s an easy decision for Indiana as the Oregon alum was not seeing many minutes. He had featured in seven games so far, averaging just over one point per game in just under six minutes. Without any long-term injuries or something that would cause a usual member in Pacers guard rotation to miss time, it just isn’t in the cards.
However, whether short-term or long-term, it’s a chance for Young to see some time on the floor and work on his game.
The Pacers move on to Detroit tomorrow to take on the Pistons at the Palace.
