Indianapolis Colts: Five Pass Rushing Targets in 2016 NFL Draft
By Kyle Nishida
The Indianapolis Colts are hoping to use the 2016 NFL Draft to address the outside linebacker position.
The Colts need to find an explosive outside linebacker this offseason. Unfortunately, this year’s outside linebacker draft class is not very strong, but there are a few prospects that could develop into stars with proper coaching.
The Indianapolis Colts’ current outside linebacker position looks bleak right now. The only experienced players currently at the position are Robert Mathis, Erik Walden and Trent Cole. All three players are in their thirties and do not possess the speed or explosiveness they once had. The Colts need to add some youth to this position group.
Since the Indianapolis Colts desperately need an outside linebacker, they will likely select an outside linebacker early in the draft. While many would like the Colts take an edge rusher in the first round, it would not be surprising to see them wait until the second or third round of this draft. While there are not a lot edge rushers, every prospect has traits that the Colts are interested in.
The Indianapolis Colts are ultimately looking for an outside linebacker who will be an elite pass rusher for them now and in the future. Each of these prospects has a good chance of helping them immediately and developing into the future playmaker the they are looking for.
